How do I get a *booker account* on this server?

This is a very common question ;-)

SO

Answer 1. If you are an academic user interested in Opening Out Learning (ie. you are prepared to do some work in public via a creative commons sharealike license) then you should look at LabSpace which is our contribution to the Open University OpenLearn project. Get a Moodle account on this server and you will be able to book FlashMeetings, syndicate and share them in the Open Learning community for the benefit of the world.

Answer 2. If you are an academic user working on research in this field or have a more closed community that you want to work with in the first instance, then you may be able to join the Prolearn EU Network of Excellence FlashMeeting Research. Mail us support@flashmeeting.com to see if we think so. You will have to let us deem your meetings to be research data.

Answer 3. If you belong to an organization that we are already working with, eg. you are a member of the Open University, the BBC, or some such... then your email domain will be *pre-approved* and the Server will automagically give you an account when you ask for one.

Answer 4. If you are a School user, then say so and we will pass your query on to our School partners - the East of England Broadband Network (one of the UKs Regional Broadband consortia). They have kindly offered to host a FM service for the world of teachers and kids (demand permitting ;-).

Answer 5. If you are still asking, then then answer is probably that you cannot.

(In all cases we wont give out accounts to hotmail or yahoomail, etc users without some way of checking who you really are).

Hello!

Why is the booker-accout so hard to obtain?

You seem to tightened the rules who can have the booker account. Why is that and when did you do it?

Hi Tomi, thanks for the question.

The rules have not really changed, it's just that we have now listed them here. :-)
FlashMeeting is driven by research and is not a business so we need clients that will 'compliment' the research.
Hi.

I was just curious if student organizations did count. I am with the Atlantic Council of Engineering Students and have noticed a few of our sister organisations were able to get booker accounts.

Is this possible for us?

Any response is appreciated.

Have you tried the Answer 1 from the first post above?

This may suit your needs.

Hi Flashmeeting Support,

I work at Loughborough University and we are currently undertaking a project through the Higher Education Academy Engineering Subject Centre. The project is to get employers and academics to work together to develop an understanding of the skills required by students relating to engineering, physical sciences and materials disciplines. In order to progress through the project, 4 groups of mixed academics and industrialists have been established and we are hoping to use Flashmeeting to support their group work. Can you tell me whether we qualify for establishing booker accounts and using Flashmeeting.

Regards
Dr Caroline Lowery
Hi

I'm the Primary Strategy Adviser for Bolton Local Authority and would really value obtaining a booker account. The North West Learning Grid is the regional broadband consortium to which Bolton belongs and this connects via teh same back bone as E2BN.

Please could you pass my details on them for consideration?

Thanks

John

Caroline - By the sound of it I should think you would be looked on favorably :-) . Look at Answer 2 in the first post above and use the link: support@flashmeeting.com to ask...

John - sorry but we cannot approve accounts via this forum. Please direct your request to support@flashmeeting.com stating your case, as suggested in the first post above. Good luck.
I provide IT support to a local primary school in North London. The school offers Spanish lessons to pupils. In connection with this, we have established links with a school in Spain and want to be able to use video / web conference facilities, for example to hold 'joint' lessons.

1. Is this something that is likely to be approved for a booker account?

2. If not, could the server software be made available (subject to whatever conditions are appropriate - e.g. for use only in conferences involving this school) so that we could host it on our server? If so, what would the server requirements be?

Many thanks,

David Nutting

David,
Sounds like a likely candidate - try support@flashmeeting.com stating your case...
Complete server's are available from time-to-time rather than just the software, ask at the same email address if you are interested.
I am computer science student(engineer) at the Annaba
university (Algeria), i need obtaining information about how to register
for using falshmeeting in educationnal context.

Thankyou.

Hi Hafed,
Contact support@flashmeeting.com explaining what you would use FlashMeeting for...
How long does it take to get a "booker account" approved? My co-worker and I both requested an account a few weeks ago, but haven't heard anything either way. I think we would meet the criteria, but just wondered if perhaps our request didn't get there due to spam filters or something.

It should normally be a few days to a week but sometimes it is longer depending on work load/holidays etc. Also remember we are a research lab not a business... :-)
Hello guys,

I sent a message about ten days ago (on June 17) requesting a Booker User account for the videoblogging forum/list ( [tech.groups.yahoo.com] ). We've been using FlashMeeting for a couple of years now, but the fellows who with the Booker accounts no longer have the time to take on the reponsibility of being available each week. That's where I come in, since I've taken on the responsibility.

I know you guys are probably busy, but please contact me as soon as you can to let me know if I can obtain a Booker User account. Please email harold dot johnson at gmail dot com. It's possible another fellow you may know, Michael Verdi (of Freevlog at [www.freevlog.org] ), will want to take on this role as well. If you would prefer to provide Mr. Verdi with a Booker User account, since he is a well-known vlogger and has been active in the videoblogging forum for a few years now, please by all means do so.

Thank you!

Harold
Ummmm.....why isn't this service available to the public? It seems like a great service that many people could benefit from.
Hi I am the Head of ICT at Fairfield School in Loughborough and would like to use Flashmeeting within our primary school. I am also doing an MA at Nottingham University in ICT in Educationand have used a sign in account of FlashMeeting as part of a recent assignment.

Is it possible for me to be considered for registration please?

Thanks

Answer 4 in the first post as they handle the majority of 'School' accounts - we'll pass on the request. Hopefully you'll hear from them soon...
