When I replay a meeting the broadcasts display in the large left window.

When the meeting has used the whiteboard feature the reply does not show the broadcasts in the large left window. The presentation style format is used, for the entire replay, and the broadcast are in a small window on the right.

Is it possible to replay a meeting that used a whiteboard, and have the broadcasts show in the large window on the left?

If not, it should be possible. Often the principle content of my meeting is in the broadcasts, but I would also like to use the whiteboard.

Please advise.

Thanks for all your good work on the FlashMeeting system.

We have made some changes to FM today.

WEB PAGES

The 'meeting' pages - the web pages associated with a particular meeting - have been re-designed:

1) You can now log in to the 'Meeting Page'. This reveals features only available to registered users (some of which are detailed below).

2) Meeting Flagging. From the meeting page logged in users can 'flag' any meeting. This denotes a meeting to be of particular interest and will subsequently list the meeting on your 'My Events' web page, where otherwise it might not appear (normally it will appear only if you are the booker, or you attended the meeting).

3) Meeting Keyword Cloud. From the meeting page of a completed meeting, logged in users can see a word cloud of the most relevant words used for a meeting. This is based on meeting keywords, title, description and text chat messages.

4) Meeting Analysis. From the meeting page of a completed meeting, logged in users can see the analysis of a meeting, i.e. time line, chat and broadcast dominance charts.

5) Document upload/download. From the meeting page logged in users can access any documents that have been uploaded by the meeting booker prior to the meeting starting. From the document page, before the meeting begins, the meeting booker can upload documents (and delete ones previously uploaded). The upload is restricted to common types such a Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, JPG, PNG etc.

6) My Events page, has been redesigned. It now shows by default all of a user's events. Including booked, attended and flagged meetings. Filtering controls allow this data to be presented in different orders and showing differing degrees of data. The page now includes extra 'indicator' icons showing whether the meeting was booked, attended and flagged by the user. A link to subscribe to a calendar feed has also been added (see next paragraph).

7) An ICS calendar feed of a user's 'My Events' list has been added. The feed includes all future meetings as well as past meetings going back 3 months.

8) Emailing users. People applying for a Sign-In account can now choose to be contacted by email regarding important FM news etc. Additionally, a person's My Details page also has a checkbox to allow a user to indicate their permission to be contacted by email.

FLASH CLIENT

1) When using the whiteboard or concept map in the 'Standard' Interface, a simplified text chat window is now available to view and send text chat messages. The last three text messages received are shown. The window can be made translucent to view both the text and the detail on the 'boards' below it.

2) Your personal whiteboard flag now displays the first five letters of your screen name, rather than the first three as before.

Dear all,

unfortunately your otherwise great tool seems to have massive problems in the last days.

After a new user goes live and speeks, for the listening users it seems immediately afterwards he stops again - while in fact he has not. Now, only some participants can see and hear the speaker. There was no identifiable rule which users could hear, and it changed over time.

Logging out and in again helped for some users, but for most users it fixed it just for a couple of time, and afterwards simply behaved the same

(Don't know if this helps, but two VCs we had these problems were: [fm.ea-tel.eu] and [fm.ea-tel.eu] )

The EA-TEL server version of FM, now includes the ability to create shared concept/knowledge maps during a meeting, if the 'standard interface' version is chosen when booking it. Signed-in participants can create and edit nodes, join them with lines and add labels etc. Screens can be saved as 'Mapshots' and reloaded later in the meeting (or stored to be viewed later within the replay). See the QuickStart web page for full details.
Both the new concept map and existing whiteboard now appear within the FM application and do not 'pop-out' in a separate web window as before.

I am a resources writer and author currently working on new materials on aspects of the Holocaust in education. One arm of this may be to develop a platform for twinning schools in Poland and those in England. Schools could exchange the work they are doing, show each other what they are doing, develop ideas and discussions. The idea is that each side has its own part to contribute. Polish schools are strong on their own history of course, English schools strong on issues of difference, racism and multiculturalism.

My question is: are there any good models out there - using FM to develop school collaboration over curricula areas (ie not just for social networking). What good practice exists?
I'm not able to get the connection using the EA-TEL and OUFM servers while the OpenLearn and E2BN work fine. My computer is behind a firewall so I think the first 2 servers don't do tunnelling while the second 2 do it.
There is a reason why some servers do tunneling while other no? It should be possible to enable the tunnelling on the EA-TEL server?
Thanks

After two years of smooth performance with FM we have had many problems the past several weeks.

Many more difficulties with new participants at a meeting: can't get audio or video to work, slow through-put with "herky-jerky" results.

Sound not working with Memo, Memo playback stalls out after a few seconds, general "herky-jerky" results.

These problems are experienced on different computer systems with different access to the internet. The only commonality seems to be the FM system.

Have you changed anything with the system lately that could cause these problems?

AS far as I see, under Linux I can only use V4L but not V4L2
I changed from my poor resolution Logitech Quick Cam Express Plus, to QuickCam Pro 9000. But the QuickCam9000 uses UVC driver with support of V4L2. In all Linux apps this works fine, except in the Flashmeeting. Can anyone verify this behaviour?
(if, yes: will V4L2 driver be supported in future?)
Many of the people here use the Philips SPC900NC with very good optical results.
So my Question, do anyone have used this SPC900 Webcam with Linux?
I would appriciate any hints with a good resolution webcam running under Linux .
Thanks for this great service!
I was wondering: It seems lately (11/20/2007) we can not test the platform with several users logged in at the same time, it says: "Server refused connection, meeting is full, try again later", but there is close to nothing to test if there is nobody in the meeting room!

On certain web sites, the FlashMeeting Demo has been reduced to one user at a time.
This is not a move against people who use the demo for impromptu meetings, but rather to remove unwelcome interaction between strangers.

I'm a board member on an association (the Polyurea Developmennt Association) and I am currently trying to find a means by which we can use video conferencing to improve collaboration and productivity. I've been doing a lot of web searching and stumbled on FlashMeeting. In general this looks like an excellent project and I think it would find a useful place in our organization. Is there any intent to make the project available for public use at a reasonable cost or to open source it?

If not, I'm tempted to try my hand at writing something similar as an Java applet as open source but I don't know that I really have the time to do so. Of course I'd hate to have to reinvent the wheel.

The use of the amazing TeleOptiKon technology is not without risk of physical harm to the operator. My guess is that he wore his foot down to a stump operating that foot-pedal switch which must be pressed twice for each frame of video--just one of the hazards of life in the old days. But, don't worry, the use of devices such as foot switches were strictly controlled by the Board of Electrical Impairments during the late 1920s. I have not heard of a single case in at least a decade.

Hi,

Would anyone mind me joining a non-business meeting on FlashMeeting as I am currently wanting to evaluate its use for the Open University Students Association in the South Regional Forum meetings?

This region includes Oxford and Milton Keynes to the North right down to and including the Isle of Wight, Portsmouth in the East and right accross to Weymouth in Dorset in the West. The Channel Islands are all also part of our Region.

The Region includes one of the most expensive peices of water to travel accross in the World and in fact the most expensive piece of water per a mile in Europe, This is the Solent between the Isle of Wight and the mainland England.

I am looking at developing the idea of meetings via FlashMeeting both to reduce the costs of our meetings to the environment and to the finanaces of our Association.

If anyone would be willing to let me join and observe a live meeting I would appricate it, I am usually able to get to my computer day and evening server time (BST).

Thanks
